On biopsy, renal oncocytoma is characterized by oncocytes and large eosinophilic cells.

- On biopsy, renal oncocytoma is characterized by oncocytes and large eosinophilic cells.
- Biopsy is insufficient to distinguish renal oncocytoma from renal cell carcinoma, therefore immunostaining may be required.[1]
