Risk factors
- Most common risk factor in the development of Essential thrombocytosis is age greater than 60 years. Most patients go undiagnosed until late.
- Other risk factors for ET include:
- Presence of JAK2 mutation
- High white cell count of 15 x 10/L at the time of diagnosis
- Previous history of bone marrow fibrosis
