Follicular thyroid cancer may be classified according to the WHO classification into 2 subtypes: minimally invasive follicular thyroid carcinoma and widely invasive follicular thyroid carcinoma.
Classification
The WHO classification divides follicular thyroid cancer into minimally invasive follicular thyroid carcinoma, when limited capsular and/or vascular invasion and widely invasive follicular thyroid carcinoma, in the case of widespread infiltration of thyroid tissue and/or vascular invasion. It has also been classified into conventional type and oncocytic type according to histologic factors..[1]
