Overview
Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of linitis plastica may include abnormal complete blood picture, electrolyte abnormalities, occult blood in stool, abnormal increase in the levels of ALT (alanine aminotransferase), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate transaminase (AST) and positive tumor markers like the CA-125, CEA and beta hCG.[1]
Laboratory findings
Laboratory testing may be similar to that of any other type of gastric cancer and may include the following:[1]
- Complete blood count (CBC)
- To look for anemia (reduced hemoglobin)
- Complete metabolic panel(CMP)
- To look for any electrolyte abnormalities
- Stool testing for occult blood
- Serum chemistry tests
- Increase in alanine aminotransferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate transaminase (AST) levels may be noticed
- Tumor markers testing may include CA-125, CEA and beta hCG
