Overview
Bone CT may be helpful in the diagnosis of chondroma. Findings on CT suggestive of chondroma include chondroid calcifications, mild endosteal scalloping and expansion of the overlying cortex with no cortical invasion, unless fractured.[1]
CT Scan
- Bone CT may be helpful in the diagnosis of chondroma and performed when the radiographic findings are suggestive of the disease and need further evaluation.
- Findings on CT suggestive of enchondroma include chondroid calcifications, mild endosteal scalloping and expansion of the overlying cortex with no cortical invasion, unless fractured.[1]
- Findings on CT suggestive of periosteal chondroma also includes saucerisation of the adjacent bony cortex with a sclerotic periosteal reaction.[2]
- Most lesions are < 3 cm in size.
