Overview
Laboratory findings consistent with the diagnosis of linitis plastica may include abnormal complete blood picture, electrolyte abnormalities, and occult blood.[1]
Laboratory findings
Laboratory testing may be similar to that of any other type of gastric cancer and may include the following:[1]
- Complete blood count (CBC)
- To look for anemia (reduced hemoglobin)
- Complete metabolic panel(CMP)
- To look for any electrolyte abnormalities
- Stool testing for occult blood
- Serum chemistry tests
- Increase in alanine aminotransferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and aspartate transaminase (AST) levels may be noticed
- Tumor markers testing may include CA-125, CEA, and beta hCG
