Overview
There are no accepted screening programs for cholangitis or cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer associated with this disease. Methods do exist to detect the early onset of both diseases, though.
Screening
Cancer predominantly associated with cholangitis include cholangiocarcinoma. There are no accepted screening programs for either disease. However, methods for detecting early onsets of cholangitis and cholangiocarcinoma include using biochemical markers, scanning using positron emission tomography or MRI and endoscopic procedures such as endosonography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.[1]
