The incidence of Hirschsprung disease is 1 in 5000 newborn. It is more common in Asian Americans. Males are more affected than females.

- The incidence of Hirschsprung disease is 20 per 100,000 newborns.[1]
- The incidence is estimated to be lower in the United States at 7 per 100,000 newborns.
Race:
- Hirschsprung disease is three times more common in Asian Americans.[2]
Gender:
- Males are more affected with hirschsprung disease than females. The male to female ratio is approximately 4:1.
- With total aganglionic colon, male to female ratio is 1:1.[2]
