Overview
Effective measures for the secondary prevention of celiac disease include avoiding gluten-containing diet and vaccination against encapsulated organisms in individuals with hyposplenism.
Secondary Prevention
- Avoiding gluten-containing diet is the only proven secondary preventive measure.[1]
- If hyposplenism ensues, vaccination against encapsulated organisms such as meningococci and strept. Pneumoniae is important.
