Overview
MRI is sometimes used to diagnose complicated pyelonephritis. It is the preferred modality for diagnosing complicated pyelonephritis when the patient is allergic to iodinated contrast material. A comprehensive idea of the extent of damage to the kidneys can be estimated with an MRI.[1][2]
MRI
In a patient with pyelonephritis the MRI may demonstrate stag horn calculi.[3]
