Overview
On thoracic MRI, thymoma is characterized by increased heterogenous signal on T2WI.
MRI
MRI is usually used in those with suspected vascular invasion in which iodine contrast cannot be tolerated (allergies and renal problems).
Key MRI findings in thymoma
- Isotense to skeletal muscle on T1WI
- Increased heterogeneous signal intensity on T2WI
- Fluid characteristics of cysts with high water content
