  • Aggressive fluid and electrolyte replacement 
  • Cyclical parenteral nutrition (overnight feeding)
  •  Prophylactic oral antibiotics such as neomycin and metronidazole
  • Prophylaxis with cholecystokinin
  • Initiating enteral feeding 
  • Frequent measurements of vital signs, intake and output, and central venous pressures
