Overview
There are no echocardiography findings associated with linitis plastica. Endoscopic ultrasound is the most sensitive modality for tumor staging. Ultrasound may also be helpful in the diagnosis of poorly differentiated linitis plastica, nodal staging and depth of tumor invasion. Findings on an endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) suggestive of linitis plastica include signet ring cells. Brush cytology can be done to confirm the diagnosis of linitis plastica after ultrasound endoscopy is carried out.
Echocardiography/Ultrasound
- There are no echocardiography findings associated with linitis plastica. However, endoscopic ultraosund is the most sensitive modality for tumor staging. EUS-FNA may be helpful in diagnosis of poorly differentiated linitis plastica, nodal staging and depth of tumor invasion. EUS-FNA is more sensitive than CT.[1]
- Findings suggestive of linitis plastica include:
- Signet ring cells
