Overview
MRI
- MRI is helpful in the diagnosis of early and subacute rheumatoid arthritis. Findings on MRI diagnostic of rheumatoid arthritis include:
- Inflammation of synovium which is called as synovial hyperemia
- Synovial hyperplasia also called as rice bodies
- Pannus formation
- The thickness of cartilage is decreased
- Subchondral cysts and erosions
- Effusion of joints
- Bone marrow edema
