- Complete blood count
- Urinalysis with examination of the sediment
- 24-hour urine collection for protein quantification and creatinine clearance
- ANA and, if positive, anti-double-stranded DNA (anti-dsDNA), anti-Sm, anti-Ro/SSA, and anti-La/SSB antibodies
