Overview
There are no established measures for the primary prevention of wilms tumor. Some measures might help.Testing should be done in patients suffering from certain syndromes which are associated with wilms tumor to detect them early. If a patient is suffering from Denys-Drash syndrome then prophylactic bilateral nephrectomy may be considered.[1]
Primary Prevention
- There are no established measures for the primary prevention of wilms tumor.
- Some measures that might help are:-
- Testing should be done in patients suffering from certain syndromes which are associated with wilms tumor to detect them early.[2][3]
- Genetic counselling may be of some help to parents with a family history of wilms tumor.[4]
- If a patient is suffering from Denys-Drash syndrome then prophylactic bilateral nephrectomy may be considered.[1]
