Overview
Urethral canceris a rare type of cancer. The following are the causes of urethral cancer: Human papilloma virus,White female, history of bladder cancer, old age ( above 60), recurring urinary tract infections, Smoking, exposure to chemicals.
Causes
Urethral cancers appear to be associated with infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), particularly HPV16, a strain of HPV known to be causative for cervical cancer.[1] [2], Other significant causes of urethral cancer are :
- White female
- History of bladder cancer
- Old age( above 60)
- Recurring Urinary tract infections
- Smoking
- Chemical exposure
