The hallmark of membranous glomerulonephritis is nephritic syndrome. A positive history of weight gain, foamy appearance urine, fatigue and headache are suggestive of membranous glomerulonephritis

- Symptoms of nephrotic syndrome include:
- Headache
- Edema (swelling) in any area of the body
- Foamy appearance of urine
- Weight gain
- Poor appetite
- Urination, excessive at night

- Patients with glomerulonephritis may have a positive history of:
- Unexplained weight gain
- Headache
- Swelling of legs
- High blood pressure
- Foamy appearance of urine
