Overview
X-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of myelofibrosis. Findings on x-ray suggestive of myelofibrosis include osteosclerosis at different sites of the body, which tends to be diffuse and devoid of architectural distortion.
X Ray
An x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of myelofibrosis. Findings on an x-ray suggestive of myelofibrosis include:
- Bony sclerosis[1]
- Osteolytic lesions[2]
- Soft tissue masses
- Increase in bone volume
- Periosteal reaction[3]
- Possible diffuse osteoporosis with characteristic "moth eaten" appearance[4]
- Diffuse, purely lytic changes which are usually small, well-defined lesions located at the cortex of the bones of the trunk and legs.[4][5]
