Overview

Chest, abdomen, and pelvis PET scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma. In some cases a Gallium Scan may be used instead of a PET scan.

Other Imaging Tests

  • Make an initial diagnosis and assess the burden of disease prior to the start of therapy
  • Detect small deposits that do not show on CT scan
  • Monitor the response to treatment
  • Detect recurrences
  • Quantitate the size of lymph nodes with precision
  • Assess for bone marrow involvement while bypassing the need for a bone marrow biopsy, which is an invasive procedure
