Surgery of lipoma includes simple excision, liposuction, and deoxycholate injection.
Surgery
- Surgical removal of lipoma is indicated in case of:[1][2]
- Cosmetic problem
- Concerns over the diagnosis
- Pain
- Limitation in movement
- Possible side effects of surgery include:
- Scar formation
- Seroma
- Hematoma
- Recurrence is not common and may occur in less than 5% of cases.
- Alternative treatment include liposuction and subcutaneous deoxycholate injection.[3][4]
