History
Patients with pyonephrosis can present with history of :
- Sudden onset of symptoms including fever and chills
- Recent urinary tract infection
- History of pyelonephritis
- Nephrolithiasis
- Immunosuppression
- Diabetes mellitus, HIV AIDS
- Congenital structural defect of the urinary tract
- Tumor
Symptoms
Patients with pyonephrosis can be asymptomatic or present with the following symptoms[1]:
- Fever
- Chills
- Flank pain, back pain, abdominal pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fatigue
- Frequent urination
- Burning sensation when urinating
- Foul smelling urine
- Blood or pus in urine
