Overview
Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) or N-terminal pro-b-type-natriuretic peptide may have roles in the risk determination of patients for ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.
Laboratory Findings
- An elevated concentration of brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) or N-terminal pro-b-type-natriuretic peptide has been shown to have roles in the SCD risk determination of patients [1] [2] [3] [4].
- However, there is still a lack of sufficient evidence on the use of BNP as a method in the selection for the need of an implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) [5] [6].
