The risk factors for the Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) include prolonged sunlight exposure, UV radiation, smoking, drugs etc

Common Risk Factors

Common risk factors for the development of the disease inlcude:

• Chronic sun exposure.

• Fair skin

• Elderly age (>45 yrs)

• Male sex

• Smoking

Less Common Risk factors

• Personal History of a skin cancer previously

• Xeroderma Pigmentosa
• Drugs that cause photo-sensitivity like ibuprofen, isotretinoin etc.,
• Immuno suppression in post-transplantation patients
• Skin inflammation or injury.
