Synonyms and keywords: dig effect
Overview
Teh dig effect refers to a constellation of non-specific electrocardiographic findings which include the following in variable combinations: T wave inversions, T waves flattening, U waves, PR prolongation, ST-segment depression with a “scooped” appearance and Short QT due to an abbreviated ventricular action potential.
Diagnosis
Electrocardiogram
The following findings are suggestive of the dig effect:
- Sinus bradycardia
- T wave inversions
- T waves flattening
- U waves
- PR prolongation
- ST-segment depression with a “scooped” appearance
- Short QT due to an abbreviated ventricular action potential
Electrocardiogram Examples
Shown above is an EKG pattern of the dig effect with ST-segment depression with a “scooped” appearance.
