Overview
Treatment for actinomycosis consists of antibiotics such as penicillin or amoxicillin for six to twelve months, as well as surgery if the disease is extensive.
Pharmacotherapy
- In vitro susceptible to:
- Penicillin
- Chloramphenicol
- Tetracyclines
- Erythromycin
- Clindamycin
- Imipenem
- Streptomycin
- The cephalosporins
- Prolonged treatment (6-12 months)
