Risk Factors

Essential hypertension which is the more common form has several risk factors. Of most importance are -

  • Increased salt intake in diet
  • Obesity
  • Increased alcohol intake
  • Family history where parents are hypertensive

Other Less Established Risk Factors for Hypertension
