Overview
Certain studies like electroencephalography(EEG) are of noticeable importance. These tests are done to exclude other differential diagnosis and aid in diagnosis of certain conditions.
Other Diagnostic Studies
Electroencephalogram(EEG)
- It is mainly used in confusion to rule out from absent seizures. Absent seizures lack motor symptoms and they present with staring gaze. EEG helps in differentiating those seizures from confusion.
- Diagnosing associated co morbid conditions like certain metabolic encephalopathies, infections which have characteristic pattern.
- Metabolic encephalopathies show a slow wave high amplitude waves.
- Hepatic encephalopathies, septic conditions present as triphasic wave.
- Most of psychiatric conditions have normal EEG which helps in differentiating those symptoms from confusion proper.
