Overview
Oxidative stress, hormonal imbalances, endotoxemia and mitochondrial abnormalities may all be potential causes. It can be caused by few medications which is termed as secondary NAFLD.
Causes
Secondary causes
NAFLD can also be caused by the following medications (termed secondary NAFLD):
- Amiodarone
- Antiviral drugs (nucleoside analogues)
- Aspirin / NSAIDS
- Corticosteroids
- Methotrexate
- Nifedipine
- Perhexiline
- Tamoxifen
- Tetracycline
- Valproic acid
