Overview
Most commonly hyperchylomicronemia is a result of deficient lipoprotein lipase enzyme. This deficiency could be genetic as in type I and type V hyperlipoprotenemia. Other conditions like alcoholism, chronic renal failure, hypothyroidism and diabetes mellitus can also affect the activity of lipoprotein lipase enzyme and can result in increased chylomicrons in blood.
