- Complete blood count (CBC)
- Glucose
- Calcium
- Urinalysis
- Magnesium
- Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) / creatinine
- Arterial blood gases
- Pulse oximetry
- Vitamin B12
- Folate levels
- Thyroid function tests
- Urine cultures
- Blood cultures
If indicated
- Arterial blood gases
- Specific cultures eg urine, sputum
