Overdosage of COLESTID Granules or FLAVORED COLESTID Granules has not been reported. Should overdosage occur, however, the chief potential harm would be obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract. The location of such potential obstruction, the degree of obstruction and the presence or absence of normal gut motility would determine treatment.<ref name="dailymed.nlm.nih.gov">{{Cite web  | last =  | first =  | title = COLESTID (COLESTIPOL HYDROCHLORIDE) GRANULE, FOR SUSPENSION FLAVORED COLESTID (COLESTIPOL HYDROCHLORIDE) GRANULE, FOR SUSPENSION [PHARMACIA AND UPJOHN COMPANY] | url = http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfm?setid=21b37725-fc0c-4365-a7dc-1a473d42502d | publisher =  | date =  | accessdate = 11 February 2014 }}</ref>
