Overview

Although most cases of salmonellosis are not complicated, supportive and symptomatic treatment are mandatory in order to avoid worsening of the condition. Additionally, salmonellosis may incapacitate the affected persons for several days, jeopardizing their ability to work. Therefore, the treatment and prevention of salmonellosis may be considered cost-effective.
