Overview
Primary Prevention
- There is no vaccine available against non-polio enteroviruses, including enterovirus 68. Since many people infected with this virus are asymptomatic, it is difficult to prevent enterovirus 68 from spreading.
- CDC recommends preventive measures to avoid transmission[1], such as:
- Hand washing with soap and water especially after using the toilet and changing diapers
- Avoiding close contact, such as touching and shaking hands with people who are sick
- Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
