Overview
There is no specific antiviral treatment for EV-D68 infection. Most patients may be followed-up on an outpatient basis. Patients presenting with more severe disease may be hospitalized or even admitted to an intensive care unit for supportive management and mechanical ventilation, if needed.

- There is no specific antiviral therapy indicated in patients with EV-D68 infection.
- Most patients with uncomplicated disease may be followed-up on an outpatient basis.
- Patients with a complicated course or severe clinical disease may be hospitalized and admitted to the regular floor or even to the intensive care unit.
- Treatment is aimed at supportive care and prevention of complications.
- Severe cases might require oxygen supplementation or mechanical ventilation, as needed.
