Biopsy
A skin biopsy can prove the diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma. An excisional or punch biopsy can visualize the depth of the tumor.
Histology Findings
Several histologic types of basal cell carcinoma exist.
The following are aggressive histological types:
- Basosquamous
- Micronodular
- Infiltrative
- Sclerosing
- Morpheaform (desmoplastic)
The following are non-aggressive histological types:
- Keratotic variant
- Infundibulocystic variant
- Fibroepithelioma of Pinkus
