Overview
Common risk factors in the development of follicular thyroid cancer are iodine deficiency, family history of thyroid cancer, and radiation exposure.
Risk Factors
- Clinical data have suggested that the development of thyroid cancer is related to following factors:

- Radiation fallout from power plant accidents or nuclear weapons and radiation from medical treatments such as radiation therapy for lymphoma, head and neck cancers, lung cancers, and breast cancers are associated with increased exposure of radiation to thyroid.
- Age
- Follicular thyroid cancer are usually found in people between the ages of 20 and 60 years.[1]
