Historical Perspective

Russian born, American pathologist Jacob Churg (1910-2005) along with German born, American pathologist Lotte Strauss (1913-1985) first described the disease in 1951, when describing "Allergic granulomatosis, allergic angiitis, and periarteritis nodosa.

Churg-Strauss syndrome is named for Dr Jacob Churg and Dr Lotte Strauss, who described the condition in 1951.
