Overview
Historical Perspective
Russian born, American pathologist Jacob Churg along with German born, American pathologist Lotte Strauss first described the disease in 1951, when describing "Allergic granulomatosis, allergic angiitis, and periarteritis nodosa.[1][2][3]
As of November 7, 2010, Churg-Strauss syndrome has been changed to Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis by the American College of Rheumatology, American Society of Nephrology, and the European League Against Rheumatism. The name has been changed to characterize the pathology of the disease rather than having it remain as a historical reference. [4]
