The underlying predisposing factors are usually clear on obtaining history (HIV, chemotherapy, etc ..). Odynophagia is the most common encountered symptom of esophageal candidiasis.

History and symptoms

More common symptoms:

  • Odynophagia
  • Dysphagia
  • Retrosternal pain
  • Epigastric pain

Less common symptoms

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
