Overview
Other tests include: injection of calcium gluconate into splanchnic arteries and venous sampling searching for insulin.[1]
Other Diagnostic Studies
- In the case of failed imaging investigations to diagnose insulinoma, calcium gluconate injection test is done,
- The test can be performed to distinguish between insulinoma and islet-cell hypertrophy.
- Injection of calcium gluconate into splanchnic arteries and venous sampling searching for insulin.[1]
- In insulinoma, the test is positive in one artery alone.
- Islet-cell hypertrophy, the test is positive is positive in multiple arteries.[2]
