Overview
On ultrasound, 21-hydroxylase deficiency is characterized by enlarged, wrinkled, and cerebriform adrenal glands. Also testicular masses can be seen in the setting of classical disease.
Ultrasound Findings in Congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency
Ultrasound findings in patients with 21 hydroxylase deficiency are:[1][2]
- Enlarged adrenal glands
- Wrinkled surface adrenal glands
- Cerebriform pattern adrenal glands (pathognomonic sign)
- Normal ultrasound appearances may also be seen
