Echocardiography/Ultrasound

• Echocardiography may be helpful in the diagnosis of Amyloidosis. Findings on an echocardiography suggestive of Amyloidosis include:
  • ‘Sparkling or speckled appearance’ of the LV thickening
  • Hypertrophied right ventricle
  • Diastolic dysfunction with restrictive filling pattern (in the advanced stages)
  • Severe atrial dilatation
  • Thickened interatrial septum
  • Pericardial effusion
