Overview
Breast mammogram may be helpful in the diagnosis of fibroadenoma. On breast mammogram, fibroadenoma is characterized by a well circumscribed, discrete, oval mass that is isodense to breast glandular tissue. The mass may contain coarse, popcorn calcification.[1]
Other Imaging Findings
Mammogram
- Breast mammogram may be helpful in the diagnosis of fibroadenoma.
- On mammogram, fibroadenoma is characterized by:[2]
- Soft, homogenous, and well circumscribed nodules
- Inner coarse calcifications are often observed
- Hypo- or isodense to the breast glandular tissue
- Macrolobulation
- It is not recommended for use in women <30 years because of the density of the breast tissue in this population.[3][1]
