Overview
Complications of unilateral renal agenesis (URA) may include signs of renal injury such as: hypertension, microalbuminuria and chronic kidney disease. Prognosis of bilateral renal agenesis (BRA) is extremely poor, and the mortality rate is 100% without prenatal therapy with serial amnioinfusion.

Complications
Complications of unilateral renal agenesis (URA) may include signs of renal injury such as:[1]
- Hypertension (16%)
- Microalbuminuria (21%)
- GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m² (chronic kidney disease) (10%)
Prognosis
- Prognosis of bilateral renal agenesis (BRA) is extremely poor, and the mortality rate is 100% without prenatal therapy with serial amnioinfusion.[2]
- URA has a better prognosis compared to BRA.
