Overview
Natural history, complications and prognosis of hematuria usually depends on the underlying etiology. Accompanying proteinuria might indicate significant kidney disease. The presence of proteinuria, hypertension, and/or abnormal renal function might be associated with a particularly poor prognosis among patients with hematuria. Isolated hematuria is associated with a good prognosis in children.
