Overview
Although cancers of the thyroid represents about 1% of human malignant neoplasms, it the most common endocrinological malignancy, with about 23,500 cases of thyroid cancer are diagnosed yearly in the United States. The incidence shows a predominance in females with a male:female ratio about 1:1.5 to 1:3 in most countries.[1] The median age for diagnosis is in the third and fourth decades of life.
