Patients and their family members should be educated on sign and symptomps of proteinuria, hypertension, renal dysfunction. Patient along with affected family members should be monitored regularly for the development of hypertension , persistent proteinuria and progression to renal impairment.
Secondary prevention
Effective measures for the secondary prevention of TBMD include:
- Health education: Health education is important for early diagnosis and management of complications in early course of TBMD.
- Patient with new onset of Hypertension should be educated with lifestyle modifications and continuity of medication on regular basis.
- Patient should be educated on the signs and symptoms of persistent proteinuriaand renal impairment.
- Patient should be advised to maintain a follow up schedule to monitor the progression of renal impairment.
- Patient's family members should be encouraged to go fo frequent health visits to diagnose the disease in early course and treat the disease according to symptoms.
- Patient with severe renal dysfunction may need long term Dialysis and patient should be educated on adherence of this regularly.
- Patient with renal failure may undergo renal transplant. [1]
