The majority of cases of Merkel cell cancer are treated with surgery.

Surgery

• Surgery is the predominant treatment for Merkel cell cancer.
• The tumor is resected along with a border of healthy tissue surrounding it.
• Regional lymph nodes are often resection because they may contain cancer cells.
