Laboratory Findings

• Complete blood count shows the following abnormalities:
  • Eosinophilia
  • Lymphocytosis
  • Red cell production reduced
  • Thrombocytopenia
• A chemistry panel with altered levels of:
  • Uric acid
  • Creatinine
  • Blood urea nitrogen
  • Potassium
  • Phosphate
  • Calcium
  • Bilirubin
  • Hepatic transaminases)
• Ferritin levels raised (serum)
• Pathological examination
• A spinal tap will tell if the spinal column and brain has been invaded.
• Peripheral smear
